A family that skis together, stays together.

Matt and I both had MLK day off this year so we decided to take the girls skiing up on Mt.Hood and it was so fun! It was the perfect day for it and the girls did surprisingly well. Aliyah had taken a lesson last year but she didn't really love it - It could have been because it was at night and the slope was icy...(probably not our finest parenting moment). This time the conditions were much better and she was able to make it down the Bunny Hill all by herself.
We were shocked by our little Ro. That girl is fearless! She did awesome and would smile the whole time. It  was kind of adorable! She still doesn't have the muscle control to be able to slow herself down but she can glide for long stretches of time.
Ro was too worried about my glove that I had dropped to smile for the camera.

Check out that perfect Pizza!

This week Rosalie had her first official dance lesson! She was so excited to get to wear a tutu and tap shoes! She attended one of Aliyah's dance classes a few weeks ago and it was ADORABLE! It was what every mother wishes their daughters first dance experience to be. She was beaming the entire time. After that experience, we just had to sign her up for her own class. She is a bit younger than everyone in the class but that did not stop her. She was in Heaven!

One of my New Years resolutions is to get the ol' blog back up and running! So, here we are! Much has happened since my last post. I'm going to kick off this blog with a tribute to our sweet Aliyah. She turned 5 this week and she is such a joy in our lives. It's hard to believe that I have been a mom for 5 years and it's also hard to believe that this sweet child is only 5! Sometimes I feel like she is much older than she actually is. She is smart, beautiful, kind, compassionate, obedient and loving. She is such a good big sister and she loves to plan parties! She has been planning her birthday party for months! We love you Aliyah Rae!

30 Weeks!

Utah Baby Shower

This is one of my very best friends in the whole world Carrie. She put together one of the most awesome baby showers of all time and she made me the most adorable things...she is so talented! I love her to pieces.
These two baskets had some of the most adorable things I have ever seen in my life! Me and my baby girl are so spoiled! and we love it.

Some of my amazing sister-in-laws who I LOVE!

Our wonderful friend Barbara made me the most beautiful things. Two beautiful crocheted blankets, a darling little crocheted dress, burp cloths, bips and receiving blankets! I felt so loved.

Don't mind the crazy eyes!

This my friend Carrie's little girl Annabelle and her mother Molly - or as I like to call her my Lehi Mamma! She is wonderful and let me have my shower in her home.

Here are some of my very dear friends from High School. I cheered with most of them for all four years of high school and it was so fun to see them.

Me and my wonderful Mother in Law Bev whom I love dearly!
Some of the wonderful Clark, Cannon and Sherman women. I feel so blessed to be a part of this family. They are truly some of the most wonderful people I have ever met and I just love them all. I am so greatful to have them in my life. (to be noted - they are not all pictured in this post but they are all loved equally! The men in the family too!)

The Aftermath. It kind of looks like a pink bomb went off. I love it!

I also had another baby shower in St.George with my family but me being the brainiac that I am brought my computer adapter cord instead of the battery charger for my camera and was unable to take Picture due to a dead camera. Very sad :( It was also really wonderful though thanks to another one of my best friends Tasha. She is also expecting a little girl in December! It was so sweet of her to throw me a shower. It was also wonderful to see all of my family. It should be noted that all 6 of my sisters were there...that in and of itself was a miracle. Love you guys!

Kids don't lie

I am in the primary presidency in my ward so the kids get to see me every week. Well one of those darling little boys went home and said to his family during family dinner "Wow! Sister Cannon is getting really fat!" His mother shared this with me today and it confirmed all my beliefs about myself. It also confirmed my belief that some things just don't need to be shared.

Master bedroom renovation

So I had this brilliant vision of what I wanted my master bedroom to look like - and this wasn't it.
This is very bland and very boring. Me no likey.
I had a friend that put up wainscoting in her condo and it was beautiful. I decided that I wanted to do the same thing in my bedroom. I thought that with the help of my husband, some new power tools and a lof of help from the good people at Lowe's we would be able to tackle this task in no time. So Matt, being the sweet husband that he is, surprised me with my very own power tools! However, once we got started I realized that it wasn't going to be as simple as I thought. My husband, bless his heart, does not like doing home improvement projects but because he loves me he does them anyway. I honestly would not have been able to do this without him. If he wasn't so good at them I wouldn't ask for his help. So, if you think about it, he kind of brings these horrible projects upon himself. But don't you think for a second that I didn't hear continuous complaints about the project. He would say to me "You know I really HATE doing this project" and I was say "um ya, you tell me like every five seconds" which he would reply "Good. I just wanted to make sure you knew". I guess you could say that this project was a test on our relationship and we passed...barely. This liquid nail stuff that we are using was the devil! It was so hard to work with and it got all over our hands and stayed for days. No fun at all.

Matt agreed to help with the wood work only so I did the rest, which was a lot of work. I spent about 8 hours caulking and about 10 hours painting. This was no easy task and I was very sensitive about the comments being made from the peanut gallery (Matt). He would say something like "You missed a spot over here" or "this looks uneven" or "maybe you should go over this again so it looks more professional". I would get all emotional and tell him to "get out of the room" and "don't come back until you have ONLY nice things to say". I don't think being pregnant helped at all in this situation.

In the end we were happy with the finished project and quite proud of ourselves too! Even Matt said "Wow! this looks really good. Even though it was awful and I hated every minute of it, I would do it again." I about fell over at this point.

The Finished Project - Ta Da!

I had to include this picture because of Moshi's little head. Do you see him. He's like my little shadow. He goes wherever I go.

22 weeks

I am officially showing. People are coming up to me and saying things like "Is that a baby bump?" or "I didn't know you were expecting" and I proudly respond "Yes! thank you for noticing." For a while there I thought I would never show. I am also proud to announce that I am FINALLY feeling my baby move and it is awesome. Things are really starting to come together :)

IT'S A GIRL!!!

So I realize that in my last post I indicated that I was pretty sure that we were having a boy. Well I was wrong and of course Matt was right. Ahhh! He's always right! But I couldn't be more excited to be having a little girl. Look how cute she is! I can't wait for her to get here!!!!

So last night I was watching TV with Matt and a commercial came across the TV with big letters that stated: END CHILD HUNGER. I looked up at Matt and said "Mmmm ENCHILaDas sound really good!" He just started laughing at me and said "Only my prego wife would see the words END CHILD HUNGER and think about Enchiladas". I just took this as a sure sign that this pregnancy has taken over my life.

P.S. For all of you people who suggested doing the Chinese Calendar thinkg, we did it. And every site that we went to told us that we were having a boy. So much for being 90% accurate.

Coming December 29th!

It is official! We have a little bun in the oven and are absolutely thrilled! These pictures were taken at 12 weeks and I just think that I have the most beautiful baby in the whole world. Sure some of you may think that my baby looks like an alien but I am so in love with this little thing! (believe me when I say that these pictures do not do justice...I think the camera added like 5 pounds and left off some defining body parts). I have been super sick and have thrown up more than I ever thought was humanly possible but I have been told that all this sickness is just the bodies way of releasing all of the excess joy! So I guess you could say that I have had a lot of joy :)I am just about 15 weeks pregnant and am due on December 29th. I would post a picture of myself but I don't look pregnant at all...I just look fat and nobody wants to see that.

We find out what we are having in August. I think that the baby is a boy and Matt thinks that the baby is a girl...Matt is correct 99% of the time but I think that I am right this time! I guess we'll find out come August.

New York Public Library - Gorgeous!

Grand Central Station

Philladelphia
My sister Caressa is living in Philladelphia and I was able to spend the day with her. I am a total loser though and didn't take a single picture while we were there. she was really good to show me around. We started our day off by pampering ourselves at a day spa, toured downtown Philly, saw the Liberty Bell, ate at a fabulous boathouse restaurant and went to a red carpet Movie premier. It was a lot of fun.

New Jersey
I was also able to spend the day with my sister Melissa and her little girl Caitie in New Jersey. It was so fun to be able to see them! Her little girl is so adorable and I loved spending time with them. I was also able to see their new beautiful home and get to know her husband Shane a little bit better. Thanks for being such fabulous hosts. Once again...no pictures. I could seriously kick myself.

Washington D.C.
I was able to spend the day with my brother Rob, his wife Chelan and their little girl Charlotte in D.C. They will be moving to Africa in August for Chelan's job with the foreign services. It will be their first assignment and they are very excited for the adventure. I hope to be able to make it out to see them while they are there.
We had so much fun in DC. Rob and Chelan were excellent hosts. We even got caught in a real D.C. rain storm. We were out being tourists and all of a sudden it just started pouring buckets and buckets of rain. We were soaking wet and it was a lot of fun. Thanks you guys for showing me such an amazing time!

We met up with Matt's brother Chip and wife Laura in DC for a fun cruise to the Bahamas. Our ship left from Norfolk Virginia which is about 3 hours from DC. It was a lot of fun. The cruise was six days and we stopped in Nassau and Freeport. The beaches in the Bahamas were so beautiful and the water was the perfect temperature. I didn't take a lot of photos but here is a sample of what we experienced.

We spent a day and a half at the infamous Atlantis Resort and it really was amazing. If you have a lot of money this would be an amazing spot to take a family vacation. They have beautiful pools, waterfalls, gorgeous beaches, a very impressive aquarium and really fun waterpark. We had a lot of fun playing at Atlantis.

Minature golf on the ship.

It was a long fun trip and I was excited to be home until the pilot came on the overhead and announced in a joking tone "It is a beautiful summer day in Portland. 56 degrees and raining." Welcome home.
